Every guide section on SharkVault is original prose, produced by our editorial AI pipeline grounded in cross-referenced public sources (community wikis, archived FAQs, contemporaneous publications). Every section clears automated citation and code checks before it can publish, and a person decides what opens to readers. We do not reproduce copyrighted strategy guides, FAQs, or walkthroughs. Where a specific fact is sourced, the per-game “verified by” card and inline citation chips name the source.
What those checks catch, what they miss, and what our record cannot currently prove are set out in full on How we use AI.
Today that pipeline works from what is publicly available, which is why a guide reads as a synthesis of the surviving record rather than one writer’s memory of playing. That is a stage, not the destination. As we license legacy media (era magazines, strategy guides, and code books), the editorial AI moves from drafting prose to helping editors work a much larger archive. A research tool for editors, not the author of record.
Cheat codes, controller input sequences, and Game Genie / GameShark codes are factual data, not copyrightable expression, and are sourced from community archives including the GameShark-Labs-published Code Vault. They are reproduced verbatim where verified across multiple sources.
SharkVault publishes curated outbound links (“Best external resources”) on game pages, hand-picked by a GameShark editor. Every title and excerpt is editor-written — never extracted from the linked page. We do not scrape third-party sites for excerpts. Outbound links carry rel=“noopener noreferrer nofollow” and open in a new tab.
SharkVault (web) and The RetroShark (hardware) are products of GameShark Labs LLC. The Complete Cheat Code Compendium by GameShark Labs is our print artifact; on this site it is referred to as the Compendium.
All other product names, brands, and logos referenced on SharkVault are the property of their respective owners. Use of a name does not imply affiliation, endorsement, or sponsorship.

SharkVault is in beta, and the vault is being corrected in the open. A section that reads thin, padded, or plain wrong is worth reporting too, not just a bad fact. Readers who actually finished the game are the fastest route we have to a better record, and a person reads every one of these.
